We’re talking about God’s plan of design and purpose for a spiritual relationship between Him and each of us. We’ve established that God by His character and nature is Holy, whereas we are not. We, by our nature are morally and ethically disobedient (‘sinful’ in character and nature). It’s therefore impossible for our ‘stain’ of sin to be removed, except by Him and Him alone as our creator. We’ve discovered we are unable to be in God’s spiritual presence due to this holy/unholy (righteous/sin) divide. God wants our returned and reconciled spiritual presence to and with Him, after our mortal life has ended. For this to happen, He as creator of the universe, must be the one to provide for our spiritual redemption while remaining unable to be in the presence of our sin. As the creator of sin’s consequence (death) it is God who must overcome death. Through His glorious grace and mercy He offers everlasting and eternal life in His spiritual presence for all who desire to call upon His name, for forgiveness of moral/ethical disobedience (‘sin’). God leaves His heavenly realm and throne by advent and the ‘going out’ of His Holy Spirit. He does this through the breath of His Word. (Psalm 33:6) God ‘speaks’ into existence all He desires, with His breath. This includes His invitation that we call upon His name in recognition, belief and faith. It was by/through His Holy Spirit that he entered our world as a man. It’s by that same spirit He dwells with the spirit in the soul of the believer. This indwelling of His Spirit with ours happens when He is asked and invited in the name of Jesus/Yeshua of Nazareth (the Christ/Messiah). The design and purpose of God’s redemption plan for His believing children is found in and through His Word, Jesus Christ (John 1:1-5). Jesus’ commission to the roles and responsibilities in this designed and purposed plan are Servant, Sacrifice and Mediator. As we look closer at these to explore and examine specific impact for believers, we’ll learn who, what and why of Jesus Christ. Join me soon for Part 5.
